An annual global campaign called the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence begins on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and lasts until December 10, Human Rights Day.

The campaign was started by activists at the inauguration of the Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991.

The Center for Women's Global Leadership has continued to organize it each year. Individuals and organizations all across the world utilize it as an organizing tactic to demand the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.

The UNiTE by 2030 to End Violence Against Women campaign, which coincides with the 16 Days of Activism, was introduced by the UN Secretary-General in 2008 in support of this civil society effort.

GHIV Africa as an organization is fully involved and in support of Activism in order to end the violence against women and girls. To show solidarity, GHIV Africa has organized sensitization campaigns in the locations where the organization is currently carrying out implementations.
